I graduated college, got on a train to New York City and never looked back. I was an actor for 18 years, and like most actors, I worked in hospitality. My good fortune was that I landed with a guy named Wolfgang Puck. Wolf and his team took me in. They taught me the power of a great brand and what commitment, discipline and relentless execution could produce. I also learned that with a proven system and the right people around you, you could build something faster and better than you ever could alone.
Sound familiar?
I was learning about franchising before I even knew I was learning about franchising.
Flash forward 26 years. I’ve purchased franchise brands, developed them, grown them and sold them. We even closed one or two along the way, too. I’m not hiding from those. Some of the most valuable things I know came from what didn’t work. There was no perfectly designed career plan. I learned this business by doing it: taking risks, building relationships, developing markets, solving problems, making mistakes and staying in the game long enough to understand what separates a promising opportunity from a bad one, and activity from actual progress.
Those years taught me what works. They also taught me what wastes time, what costs money and what people usually discover only after they’ve learned it the hard way. DVELOP Academy is where we grant you access to that experience. Not a watered-down theory of franchise development. The systems, judgment, lessons and practical knowledge I spent years earning, organized so you can put them to work without needing decades to figure it all out for yourself. You may not know it yet, but the career you’ve been looking for could be franchise development. We built DVELOP Academy to help you find out and, if it is, to help you build the career and life you want without taking the long way around.
